An authenticator app gives you a secure code to help confirm it’s really you when you sign in to your Junara account.
If you have a smartphone, we recommend installing an authenticator app on your phone. Your phone is usually the easiest option because it’s likely to be with you whenever you need to sign in. If you’re setting up or signing in on a computer or tablet, having the app on your phone also makes it easier to scan a QR code or check your code without switching between screens.
If you don’t have a smartphone, see What if I don’t have a smartphone? below.
Before you start
You’ll need:
your smartphone or tablet
an internet connection to download the app

There are several authenticator apps available. Two widely used options are Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator.

What happens when I open the app?
The first time you open your authenticator app, you may be asked to follow a few instructions or allow the app to access your camera.
Allowing camera access makes it easier to connect the app to your Junara account because you can scan the QR code shown during setup.
Once the app is installed, return to the Junara page you were using and continue with the instructions to set up multi-factor authentication.
Important: Downloading the authenticator app is only the first step. You still need to connect it to your Junara account before you can use it to sign in.
What if I don’t have a smartphone?
You can still use an authenticator if you don’t have a smartphone.
If you have an iPad or Android tablet, you can install Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator on your tablet and use it in much the same way as you would on a phone.
If you use a password manager, it may also be able to generate the codes you need to sign in. For example, 1Password can generate authentication codes using its app or browser extension on your computer.
Why do we recommend using a phone?
If you have a smartphone, we recommend using an authenticator app on your phone. Keeping your authenticator on a separate device can provide additional security. It can also make setup easier when you’re using Junara on a computer or tablet because you can scan the QR code with your phone rather than entering the details manually.
Keep your authenticator codes private
The codes in your authenticator app help protect your account.
Never give an authenticator code to someone who contacts you by phone, email, or text message. Only enter a code when you are signing in to Junara yourself.
What do I do next?
Once you have downloaded your authenticator app, return to the Junara page you were using and follow the instructions to connect the app to your account.
