This article will provide the steps on how to genarate an app-specific password.
App-specific passwords allow you to configure a password that is unique to each 3rd party email application you use. This improves your email account security.
Enabling App-specific passwords will mean your current password will ONLY work with Webmail. All other email applications must use one of the App-specific passwords you setup.
Select the app selector (top left of screen), then select Settings
Select Accounts
Under the App-Specific Passwords heading, select GENERATE PASSWORD
Enter a label or nickname so you can identify what this password is used for
Select GENERATE
Select the password displayed so you can copy this directly into your email application
Tip! We recommend storing your passwords in a secure password manager application. You will not be able to access this password again. If you forget this password in the future, you will be required to generate a new one.
Select OK
You have now configured your first App-specific password, repeat the process to add additional app-specific passwords as required.
NOTE! Now that you have enabled App-specific passwords your current password will ONLY work with Webmail. All other email applications must use one of the App-specific passwords you setup. Please make sure you update both your incoming and outgoing passwords in ALL of your email applications.
Benefits! Increased security: No need to give your main password to 3rd party applications. Easy to revoke: If an app is compromised, revoke just that password keeping your main account credentials secure.
